Lenovo A399 Review

The A399 is a phablet phone part android part tablet running android 4.4 Kit kat and this review reveals its strengths  and weaknesses. Im glad lenovo a 42 billion  dollar company still designs things the common man can afford.

Android 4.4 is backwards compatible giving older and less advance phones the capacity to use it so I don't give many brownie points to the a399 just for having it the way I would other OS's. But for a novice user who may not wish to root th e android 4.4 installed is the most user friendly and advanced android available to a phone that is not 64  bit so no point rooting this phone at all.

Another pre set feature that makes things simple is the fact that the google store app is installed from purchase.
Phone speed is reasonable and the 512MB of ram can run most 3d games smoothly for the real heavy hitters 1GB of RAM is recommended. Storage is 4gb minus the space used by the manufacturer you get about 2.3GB left. Memory can benefit from and sd card.

Screen is 5 inches which is a  fantastic size large enough to call a phablet but the resolution 854X480 limits the screens use the higher the resolution the more the screen can show less pixel resolution means you can see less on the screen.
Phones 2G And 3G unlocked so can be used in US, Europe,Africa India and anywhere else that supports the network frequency. Phone is dual sim and can receive calls from two different numbers at once either two 2G's, two 3G's or one 2G and one 3G.

One of best features of the phone is its ability to be share its wifi with other devices like a laptop which give you a kind of portable  antenna and puts the 3G to use. For a low priced android it gives you quite a lot but not everything sensors available are low, real low.

Pros
Cheap
large Screen
Dual Sim 2G and 3G
 Tethering
SD card
Android 4.4.2 (Easy to Use)
Google Store preinstalled

Cons
Low sensor options
low Screen resolution

  1. I've never owned a smartphone before, but so far I'm very pleased with my A399. Bought from Tiny Deals UK warehouse for less than £34, so a quick 2 day delivery.

Everything seems to run sweetly, although I don't do games. The only thing that would tempt me to upgrade would be a better camera.

Looks wise, it's understated, with a good textured back that doesn't get slippery. It feels slim for the size of phone.

The only other issue is that it only seems available with Chinese instructions (even on internet). But the Android OS and Lenovo interface seemed fairly logical, so I think I have worked it all out now.

I only wanted to buy a normal dual sim phone, but when I realised that this smartphone would be the same price, I had to try one out.

  6. Battery takes longer to charge than actually runs after about 8 months of ownership... battery now needs replacing.
