Cubot GT90 Review

Cubot GT90 is the second Cubot Phone to use the MTK6572W CPU after the P9.
Design
In terms of looks the GT90 most resembles the cubot C7

A  Good phone but how good?
As things are lost  in translation and over hyped for appeal some things on the GT90 just don't match across the board of sites selling it.

Screen is 4 inches and stated as 2 point or 5 point depending on vendor. That's quite a difference in points of touch. Two points can be touched at once on the
on the GT90 it is not five points.
SD card capacity varies in specs also some going as far as to say 64GB but based on MTK672W  previously endowed phones capacity concerning SD cards 32GB would be more realistic.

Cameras is listed by some as 2MP front and 5MP back which is true to an extent. Interpolation(techniques used to add pixels to Something) is used to achieve this level which means that photo's may or may  not be at level stated depending on pixels matched and added to photo by interpolation.
0.3MP Back and 2MP Front camera are the actual specs minus interpolation.

Battery supplied is either 1550Mah or 1350Mah which is less than  the C7 which had a smaller screen and 2 1650Mah batteries. Batttery will last if used sparingly about a day but providing two Would have been more user friendly.

Still An Excellent Phone
For a phone averaging $80 the range of sensors are top notch and when those paper specs are put to test by Antutu a score of 10696 a very good score for a phone under $90 close to the HTC One S score of 10644

Connectivity
WIFI USB 2.0 or Bluetooth 2.0

Sensors
The range of sensors offered for the price is the best individual feature of the GT90 in my opinion.  Gyroscope is a personal favourite of mine able to substitute for GPS or in gaming by tilting the screen to move car or character in some compatible games.

Availability
Currently being so new to the market only chinese so have a supply of the GT90 to sell. The source is the cheapest place to buy but bear in mind how much longer you have to wait for shipping and in the event of needing to make a return the cost.

Pros
Sensors
Cheap
Android 4.2.2
excellent Performance proven by Benchmark

Cons
Confusion

  1. Just got a GT90 - very impressed so far, but have hit a snag. I can't tell if its a dodgy handset, or if they're all like it. Basically all the sensors above are listed, but only the accelerometer seems to work. Others are identified (implying h/w is there??), but produce no data. Is this expected? Very hard to tell if this is a one-off bad unit, or if the phone simply doesn't contain the sensors listed.

  2. Yeah. Sensors don't work at all. Only accelerometer seems to communicate with SO. They're are recognized but just don't work. It's disappointing since, for example, gmaps uses gyroscope to orientate.
